Thomas Jentzsch
This game is golden! After reading through the instructions, I began a game and was quickly enveloped by the chaos before me. This game is maniacal madness! I love it! Golly, it's Christmas yet again! Thanks for the great present Piero Cavina!. 100% agreed! And Oystron is the game that made start programming for the 2600. BTW: A lot of modern 2600 homebrews (incl. Oystron ) have been submitted to the 2003 Minigame Competition. Maybe you (and others) want to vote there too? BTW... Thomas, if you are reading this... I think a good name for Cave1k would be "Chop Chop!". "Chop" is short for "Chopper" and "Chop Chop" means "Hurry Up!" :-) I like it anyways. Thanks, written down! I'm probably late for that kind of joke, but: "Fluffy the red Kopter" Greetings, Manuel
DEBRO
After playing Climber5, Cave1k, and various amazing improvement hacks by Thomas Jentsch, I began picking through other homebrewn games So what's your high on Climber 5? Big Player may need some competition ...and I came across Oystron. I never read the instructions when I had previously played the game, which is probably why I so quickly became confused and discouraged and put it aside. This game is golden! After reading through the instructions, I began a game and was quickly enveloped by the chaos before me. This game is maniacal madness! I love it! Golly, it's Christmas yet again! Thanks for the great present Piero Cavina! I have to avoid putting this game in my VCS as I'll stay up playing it! It is a great game. I like that it started out as a demo or proof of concept and turned into an excellent original game. This game also sparked others that used the same or similar kernels (i.e. SCSIside and Climber 5). My hat is off to Peiro for creating this masterpiece.
Brad2600
I recommend that you try Backfire by Chad Lare and Elk Attack (in emulation). Two excellent games and Backfire can be bought from the AtariAge store. As for Elk Attack, we can only hope for a release. It's available on emulation though. Big Player
Hmm, I see no mention of Star Fire yet. One of the top homebrews IMO. Here's a whole page with the top Star Fire players. I still don't see how someone got over 4,000 in the game. Damn, it gets tough in those later rounds. http://www.atariage.com/2600/archives/Star...dron/index.html No new pilots to the Squadron in a month? Come on people! MegaManFan
My gosh! And I thought it was impossible after level 5! It's not. Big Player knew some timing secrets which he was generous enough to share with me, which I eagerly look forward to testing on my own when it officially gets released in cart form. oystron
Here's mine for Oystron... don't laugh, I haven't been playing it long. Thanks, pal! How many times can you beat the Oystron, starting the game from difficulty level three? I think I never made it to the fourth boss!
