BydoEmpire
It's time to play some games I actually own on cart. I don't think we've gotten to this one yet, so it's time to launch into space and play Galaxy Force. Pretty ambitious game to port to an 8-bit, but I think Activision did pretty well. For a bonus point, keep flying into the screen and blasting aliens in the classic Space Harrier. This round runs April 29 - May 12. Totals @wongojack 127,800 (+1) @BydoEmpire 21,400 (+1) @Dashopepper 21,000 Roland 16,200 @jblenkle 15,200 @fakecortex 13,800 (+1) Edited Saturday at 12:03 AM by BydoEmpire
+wongojack
I have never even heard of this game. Should be fun to try it out.

BydoEmpire
Galaxy Force 16,200 (Scene A, although it doesn't matter, pick what you like). For kicks I tried Scene D and the tunnel is a lot easier than Scene A... but my overall score was lower.

I think we all are - especially in the tunnels... although in Scene D, I got get pretty far with most of the turns being 3 taps either left or right. Scene A was much harder imho, I haven't figured out the pattern & rhythm. It's quite floaty.
BydoEmpire
A bit better tonight, but still can't make it through the tunnels. 21,400
+wongojack
All right, I'm on the board. Terrible picture, but that is 21,800. That trench run is pretty tough. Will try a bit more this weekend And I played a few rounds of Space Harrier
BydoEmpire
Squeezed in literally 10 seconds of Space Harrier... I had to plug in and unplug my cart about 10 times before I could get it to boot... but I got my bonus in! Super busy this month, but I'm trying to make time.
fakecortex
I’m no good at Galaxy Force. I tied on both scenes A & D, got a lower score on B & C, tho, like mentioned, D was easier (and I got further through the tunnel). Didn’t really care for it, so just did one try per round. Galaxy Force - 13,800 I like SH more, tho I’m not much better at it. Space Harrier - 171,440
+wongojack
This is the type of game that I would NOT have been interested back in the day, but in 2024, I really kinda like it. I got a little bit better at each stage and managed to finish two stages in the same game (A and D). Anyone know if this game is on other systems? I could see myself finishing all 4 stages but will let it rest for a while. My highest score was 127,800 Here's the elusive bonus screen that appears when you actually clear a stage:
Dashopepper
Dashopepper 21,000 Roland 16,200 tried every level but could never make it more then a few seconds in those tunnels. Weather has been nice and the kids have started sports so not as much free time now as earlier in the year which I would need to get this down.

Most impressive. I think it was released on Genesis as well, but maybe that was only Galaxy Force 2.
