+atari2600land
Is there an alternative controller, like from another console, that would work with the Colecovision? I ask because my Colecovision controller doesn't work very well.
timdu
Chris , I think you can place your wonky Colecovision controller into port 2 and use a standard Atari 2600 compatible joystick in port 1. You can use the keypad of the controller that is in port 2 to begin the game etc. i believe this method works for most Colecovision cartridges Tim

I ask because my Colecovision controller doesn't work very well. Retrogameboyz makes a keypad that in turn supports controllers from other consoles. I've gotten quite a lot from them, quality stuff. https://retrogameboyz.com/products/colecovision-keypad-module-module-only Compatible control pads RetroGameBoyz Colecovision Game Pad RetroGameBoyz Atari 7800 Game Pad and Arcade Sticks RetroGameBoyz Omega Race Control Pad - 2 button games Atari 2600 compatible 1 button joysticks Sega Master System Control pad (RetroGameBoyx) -1 button games Atari 7800 Joystick - 2 button games
Rik
I use the Atari Track & Field controller when i want to play Decathlon on my ColecoVision, a game which is a joystick destroyer, it was for the CV controller and other cheaper quality sticks i have anyway. The two white buttons pressed alternately to run is a much more ideal way to run than 'waggling' the stick back and forth, that's for sure. There's probably other CV games this controller will work with, i don't know for sure, it's been a while for me since i've been away from my vintage video gaming stuff for a while now, life got in the way.
