calfranklin0598
I have two cartridge copies of Astro Chase and neither will boot on my stock Atari 800XL. Anyone know if it's an OS issue or faulty cartridge? if it's an OS issue, how do I boot it with OS-A and not OS-B? Thanks, Cal
ndary
This cart works on the older Atari 800 model.. to get it to work on the XL you need an OS upgrade for the Atari
Rybags
According to Atarimania, the Parker Bros version is OS-B only. The Exidy Max-a-Flex version was never intended for home use but had a 600XL inside the arcade cabinet so that one is compatible. You'd not really call OS-B an upgrade since it's older. Supposedly you can use the Translator disk to run incompatible cartridges - insert the cart when you'd normally change the disk (verification needed)
_The Doctor__
You can use a persistent translator disk and hot plug the cartridge which is outline in the forums You can use an OS switcher You can use a 32 in 1 device You can use any number of memory upgrades devices that have alternate OS slots etc etc Edited July 20 by _The Doctor__
calfranklin0598
First tried to run this cart on my ram memory upgraded 600XL, nothing happened. Then got out one of my 800XL with pre-installed (previous owner did this) OS switcher and then booted the Astro Chase game with flying colors! Thanks for the helpful suggestions!
