Help! Can't even get started!

Recommended Posts

I've been trying with both a Sandisk 8 GB Class 4 micro SD card and a Patriot 64 GB Class 10 micro SD card. Windows 10 verifies that both are formatted Fat32. I held down option the very first time and got the QR code, downloaded the update, so I thought, but now I can't get past the QR code, no matter whether I start WITH an SD card inserted or without. It's in the root directory, per the instructions. Without the SD card I figured it would at least go to the "no card present" screen (or whatever it said that very first time). What have I done?

Okay, nevermind, topic can be closed. I tried going to the firmware website, download a new firmware.upd with the button, but nope. THAT was the problem. I downloaded the 1.15 firmware.ovr, renamed THAT to firmware.upd, copied that to d: (Windows 10) and omg it's updated.

I'd tried blowing the partition away, confirmed that exFAT doesn't work (which at least gave me a screen different than the QR code I was getting sick of, no offense guys), reformatted again to fat32 from Linux, and the above was the change that truly mattered. The 64gb class 10 card is the working one, and it's staying.

Either as .upd or .ovr that should have done the same thing. Although in general the huge blue button labelled "DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE" is the one you want to use, not the tiny links below it.

The only thing I can think is you have a sticky OPTION button on your controller for the QR screen appearing, or somehow the first firmware update failed and you ended up with a corrupted firmware on the cart. This would bring up the same QR screen and wouldn't let you past, so that makes sense. And, yes, you would then need to follow the link and download again.
