sideburn
Hi all, is there a list somewhere or can we make one of the best 8-bit PAL demos? I’ve got a PAL 65XE (but may as an ultimate 1mb soon) and I am on fuljinet looking in the demoscene folder on Fujinet.pl but it’s difficult sifting through all of the no so great demos. +MrFish
Here's a short list of some of my favorites. Some are just intros or one-trick ponies; but I highly prefer them to endless-scrolling textual-nothingness demos. Just in Alphabetical order here, and all PAL only. Alley Dog [320K] Arsantica [128K] C-Drug [128K] Drunk Chessboard [64K] (although a decent NTSC compatible version was created a few years back) Easter Twist [64K] Far Away [320K] Ilusia [64K] Last Ninja Slideshow [128K] Near [128K] Numen [320K] Qlkee [64K] RebbStars [64K] Reharden [64K] Second Life Syndrome [320K] Total Daze [128K] Triple Threat [128K] [Edit: Added a couple titles, and memory requirements.]
sideburn
Awesome thanks I’ll go through them. I have drunkchessboard. Thats great. I can tell already 64k ain’t going to cut it though.
woj
Not sure how many of those will run on the stock 64K though... Also, I do not see Rewind (2) on the list.

Never the less, I've added mem requirements, for the underprivileged. 37 minutes ago, woj said: Also, I do not see Rewind (2) on the list. I don't either. Beeblebrox
Rewind and Rewind 2 (1mb) demos should defo be included. Also off the top of my head: Cyberpunk (320k) Pacem et terris (spelling?) Bad apple (320k?) I'll no doubt think of more. Btw i think Drunk chessboard only needs 16k AFAIK. 1

I'm just saying they'll work on a 64K machine, which is what the OP currently has.

No worries. I took the number in brackets to be a min ram requirement 😀

sideburn
Thanks for adding the sizes. Yeah I have an ultra1mb sitting here. Just have to install it. This is a PAL 65XE Arabic board that I’ve put a USA rom in. I’m converting it into a laptop / portable so trying to sort out the footprint. I could make it thicker by stacking the fujinet and u1mb or go deeper and make it about 11” depth. Anyway I’m in the USA so this is my first PAL Atari so looking for PAL only good stuff.

sideburn
This is great. I am surprised there's nothing else online like this. I looked everywhere I could. The best I could find was https://www.pouet.net Is there a way to consolidate then and keep them pinned to the top of the thread?
sideburn
Just installed the U1M. Awesome Demos! *Unfortunately the U1MB looks like the older firmware with the single page setup menu (no idea how to set the clock) so now I have a whole new thing to figure out.

I'm not sure how yet. Been busy loading demos lol. Some of them are insane! I have a regular floppy drive, a fujinet, and an SDrive-Max.. Thinking maybe the SDrive-Max might work. EDIT: Ahh I have and SIOtoUSB.. that should do it! Edited September 10 by sideburn

Each of these devices should work, just some a more friendly, some less. You need to get some experience on, for instance, how to handle multi-disk demos with FujiNet. SDrive-Max is also good - it allows one to map images on the fly without the need to reboot a computer, which makes it easier to use sometimes. Yet, FujiNet with it's ability to get you connected to the Internet, gives other opportunities. A regular floppy drive is a completly different story giving you a "retro-feeling". Yet, one must copy images to real floppies, which is time consuming and not always that easy (and due to the size of some modern demos, not always possible). 45 minutes ago, sideburn said: I'm not sure how yet. I just found the video where he uses an SIOtoPC. I have one of those that will work.. I couldn't see a way to do it with the Fujinet.. But maybe I could actually if i put the disk image on my SD card and boot to it? I've already ran though some multi disk demos with the Fujinet I am accessing all of the demos from the Fujinet.pl TNFS server Looks like that server has them all and many many more. I wish it was a bit more organized like Top 100 or something. I Have a local server and an SD card on the Fujinet and its my main go to now... the SDrive Max is in a bin somewhere and the floppy drives I use now and then to get stuff off my disks from the 80s. One of the drives is my original from when I was a kid and put a Happy 1050 in it EDIT: Firmware updated through Fujinet and donation sent Edited September 10 by sideburn
