goldy/gmg aka lopez453
Finally I found a way to read the ABBUC flippies on my Chinon XF551. PROS: Easy to do, take 4 screws of plastic cover, take of 4 screws of floppy metal shield near cables to access pcb, do ONE solder connecting 2 neighboring tracks marked DS READY. CONS: WHEN USING B SIDE - FLOPPY SPINS FOREVER even when not reading/whiting - so after using I turn the lever horizontally. Not completely ideal, but even a fellow Atarian with weaker technical skills can do this mod. Formatting of B side NOT WORKING, writing works (when disk has write protect hole cutout or drive is modded to ignore the writeprotect). I will see and probably go for a second index hole sensor mod in the future, anyway. P.S. Ignore the red wire, it is just for the POWER on status for my dual colour front face LED.(green power on - orange activity) Edited Saturday at 09:46 PM by goldy/gmg aka lopez453 added red wire note
Peri Noid
Thanks! It's a good one. I tried to play with a Hall-effect sensor but no luck (I did it in a deffinitely wrong way so no suprise for me) and I bought a bunch of contactrons to try this method but didn't give it a go yet.
