Megalomaniac
Amiga owners spent the early years of the machine's life complaining about games which were ported straight from the ST, without using the Amiga's custom chips. However, by 1990 or so the tide started to turn, and most ST games were being ported from the Amiga, requiring adaptations to work within the ST's hardware, perhaps using that faster processor to offset those chips. In some cases that just meant removing some parallax or fancy visual effects, but on other occasions it meant reduced or jerkier scrolling, smaller play windows and sluggish gameplay. So, which conversions do you think did the best job of adapting to the ST, retaining the playability while still looking impressive? Which ones got the gameplay right but could have looked better? Which ones were done lazily and had the playability suffer as a result? Which ones were just unrealistic to attempt in the first place? I can think of a few nominees for both, but will delay commenting to see what you all say.
stokowski
Hi, I would nominate Turrican I and Turrican II as very good conversions in every sense (gamplay, impressive graphic and good sound). Greetings, stokowski
Atari8guy
I don't know which version came first, but Zool is a good port, maintains playability very well.
