Windows binary https://github.com/tebe6502/vortextracker/tree/main/bin

I added an export to YM file, making it easier and more ZX Spectrum modules can be converted to SAPR and played on POKEY.

ivop has created a suite of programs that generate SAPR (stream of POKEY register values) files from YM, AY, SID, SNDH file

https://github.com/ivop/saprtools/releases

convert YM to POKEY:

ym2sapr filename.ym

lzss -6 left.sapr left.lz16
lzss -6 right.sapr right.lz16
mads -o:filename.xex asm\playlzs16-stereo.asm

You forgot to change songname.txt ;)

After I read your PM this evening, I wrote a little converter that converts .psg to .ym and added it to saprtools. Only after I did that did I see this thread :)

Any examples of how it works out using this conversion method (ZX Spetrum -> Vortex Tracker -> Atari POKEY)?

I did two sample conversions here:

https://github.com/ivop/saprtools/tree/main/xex/ym2sapr/stereo

The two files starting with vortex-*

If you go up one directory level, you can also enter the mono and softbass directories to listen to how they sound on a single Pokey with either a buzzy bass, or a low CPU IRQ based softbass.

Edit:

Quote

What is intro1.pt2?

That's the original ZX Spectrum Pro Tracker 2.x file.

Edit2:

Added two more songs by MmcM. Originals were done in Pro Tracker 3. Files in the above mentioned directories, mmcm-*

Thanks. Nice stuff, in stereo. The mono and softbass version are alright too, except the bass is lacking in some areas.
