spinnaker
I used to enjoy writing programs for the Atari 800. I remeber a technique where you could put certian colors together and actually seem to get more colors than the Atari supported at High res? Was it graphics 8???? Anywhay what where the "produced" colors called? The word is right on the tip of my brain but I just can't think of it. Can anyone help? Bryan
This is called artifacting. I'll try to find some links to more info. -Bry edit: http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.p...t=33742&start=0 http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.p...t=34302&start=0 http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.p...?t=3117&start=0 These topics talk quite a bit about it. Basically, since Atari used the same frequency for color generation and pixels (dot clock), you could fake a color signal by alternating light and dark pixels in Gr. 8 (or any other high-rez mode). This only works on NTSC machines, however, since PAL uses separate clocks. Because it relies on fooling the Monitor into thinking that the brightness changes are actually a color carrier signal, it also will not work if you use the separate Chroma/Luma outputs instead of the Composite Video or RF output. -Bry
