Chris-in-NJ
Are they as unreliable as the ones on the joysticks? I've been using my Trak-ball for the start/pause/reset buttons since I got the Redemption adapter, and they seem to function fine. The keypads work fine as well. Do they regularly break down like the ones on the joysticks? Is there some sort of maintenance that could prolong their life?
MrRetroGamer
The buttons on the trak ball are less prone to failure because the trak ball incorporates a real printed circuit board which is, I believe, more reliable. The fire buttons work with those metal dome switches like in the 2600 joystick, the S/P/R pad and keypad are identical to the 5200 controller, but operate on the PCB traces. You are more prone to optical sensor failure than button failure on the trak ball IMO. In other words, don't worry about it!
