Spirantho
At least that menu would explain how some space was wasted. It would explain where 2K of it went, yes! 208 is an odd number, though - it's 128+80, which is nonsense. It's possible that it has 768K of ROM, divided into 128x4K (as normal), and 32x2K+48x4K on the other ROM... which would explain the ROM size, but I wouldn't like to do the bank switching code on that. I'll take another look at the list tonight and see if there's a pattern. It is the only clone I've found so far with the menu, though - the other clones tend to just have the same 4K games on. Thomas Jentzsch
At least that menu would explain how some space was wasted. It would explain where 2K of it went, yes! For a full menu you will need more that just 2K. You have to store an alphabet plus digits (~36*8 = 288 bytes), pointers to each font graphic for each letter (1 byte each, 208 games * ~12 letters = ~2500 bytes), pointers to start of font graphics pointer of each game (2 bytes each, * 208 = 516 bytes), plus some code for displaying etc. Might fit into 4K. Do you have a screenshot of the menu?
Spirantho
For a full menu you will need more that just 2K. Do you have a screenshot of the menu? Ah, sorry, I misled you. It's not a true menu, it's just a screen which lets you choose a number, with some help text and the ditty playing in the background. It doesn't list any names or anything. I'll try and get a screenshot tonight, if you like, but it's not very interesting per se. Just a black screen with yellow text on it. Inky
Haven't quite gotten it to work (super corroded) yet but I'd love to know what it says. "Help! I'm being held prisoner in a Chinese Atari Pirate Cart factory!"
Thomas Jentzsch
I'll try and get a screenshot tonight No thanks, not necessary anymore.
Spirantho
Brought my clone in to work today so I can take a snapshot anyway... just in case it's of any interest to anyone. See how it says "Press to play" yet when you press fire it just resets the console back to the menu. Weird.

+Nathan Strum
No problem - she was glad to help out. Can you post a list of what all of the game names actually are so we can compare them? I think it'd be interesting to try and figure out why they named them what they did. (I learned that Ox, the King is a Chinese fable. So who says videogames aren't educational?) Thomas Jentzsch
At your service! How do you think this is NTSC? CloneSpy says 0 1 2 3 0 Assault (Bomb)··········································· · 97 88 88 1 Monster aus dem All (1983) (Rainbow Vision) (PAL) [!]···· = · 90 90 2 Fire Birds (AKA Scorpion) (ITT Family Games) (PAL) [!]··· = = · 94 3 Balthazar (aka Babylon 5) (SnailSoft)···················· = = = · Only Assault is NTSC.
