gospeedde
I just got a boxed copy of suicide mission and it had a supercharger booklet in it that listed some games that were supposed to be coming out. It has a picture of a "box shot" and "screen shot" of a game called excalibur, which looks like dragonstomper. Does anyone know if they are the same game and, if they are, why they changed the name? It also lists Frantic, Jungle Raid, Clone Attack, and Last Line of Defense as games that are coming soon and I was wondering if any of those games made it to the prototype stage. I like knowing things, it makes me happy. Thanks, De
CPUWIZ
Excalibur is the beta name of Sword Of Saros.
gospeedde
Thanks. I don't own that one yet so I never would have figured it out.
JL
I'm pretty sure that excalibur was the original name for Dragonstomper. Isn't there a dump of a prototype out there? Can anyone shed some more light on this? JL
Tempest
Excalibur is the beta name of Sword Of Saros Nope. Excalibur is the beta name of Dragonstomper. http://www.atariprotos.com/2600/software/d...r/version39.htm I forget what SoS's beta name was. I have it somewhere. Thomas Jentzsch
Nope. Excalibur is the beta name of Dragonstomper. NovaXpress
That can't be right, because it says that Labyrinth is the proto name for Dragonstomper, which can't be correct. I think the Cyberpunks made the error. According to old EG issues, Excalibur did become Dragonstomper. SoS had another name as well but I can't find the issue that talks about it. If anythign was called Labyrinth other that Mindmaster it would have to be SoS, seeing as there isn't a labyrinth in Dragonstomper.
Tempest
SoS had another name as well but I can't find the issue that talks about it I can't find it either, but I want to say it was something like Mazes and Monsters or something that sounded D&D like. I'll try and dig it up tonight. Tempest
NovaXpress
From a FAQ by Glenn Saunders: Sword Of Saros was originally named Labyrinth? Dragonstomper was originally named Excalibur Survival Island was originally named Jungle? Maybe SoS was originally Labyrinth and we're all wrong about that Mindmaster prototype. It would make sense. Tempest
Maybe SoS was originally Labyrinth and we're all wrong about that Mindmaster prototype. It would make sense Umm... except the prototype was labeled Labyrinth. Tempest
NovaXpress
Maybe Starpath was just confused all around. I think that Mindmaster was originally called Labyrinth in the old issues actually.
Tempest
They could have reused the name I suppose (considering they didn't use it the first time). Tempest

NovaXpress
We believe you on that, but we don't think SoS was Excalibur. The mystery will continue pendinf further reference material. The name could have been re-used, that's true.
