www.atarimania.com
Hello folks, The guys at Atarimania are proud to announce the grand opening of their website! We hope to make it one of your favorite stops amidst the busy Atari highway. Although we will try to cover most of the Atari machines, the main effort will be towards the venerable VCS and 8-bit computer line. We think there is still some uncharted territory in these two areas and our main goal is to fill this gap, particularly in the gaming department. To whet your appetite, here is what you can expect to see on our site in the near (and not so near) future: - scans of rare catalogs, including international editions - magazine scans, especially rarely-seen foreign issues - scans of hard-to-find documentation - tons of classic Atari game ads taken from magazines - much, much more! As if this was not enough, we also decided to give Atari 8-bit enthusiasts a run for their money: a HUGE section of the site will host the most complete and accurate games database ever devised for these computers! Based on months and months of research, this true encyclopedia will boast a scary amount of information on nearly all programs written for these mighty machines, including ads and box scans in easy-to-view format! Our aim is to make this place the ultimate Atari games repository. Hopefully, this will also lead our community to take part in the "software preservation act" we want to promote, for the benefit of all Atari users. Also feel free to suggest anything as we want this site to be yours! Right, enough talking! Take a deep breath and enjoy your visit! -- Atarimania Team http://www.atarimania.com
Starman
Not bad. You don't allow downloading of images. I don't like that since I like to put up old ads in my cube at work. Mike
birdie3
Looks cool so far.. Reminds me of www.atari7800.com. I know alot of people here like that site site too.
oesii
You don't allow downloading of images. I don't like that since I like to put up old ads in my cube at work. I had no problem downloading images on my Mac, might be a browser thing. One of the things I would be most interested in would be manual scans of 8bit games and apps. That's not seen too much on the net. I think AtariAge will soon have cart manuals but a comprehensive disk and cart manual database would be cool. Starman
Ah. I just got my new G5 so as soon as it's done installing Panther I'll try it. Under Windows, if I right-click on an ad, I get an annoying popup window. Mike
oesii
Yeah, sounds like they are trying to block downloading which is usually annonying but understandable, they should just use small watermarks. Here's the first image I saw and downloaded it.
Starman
Nice. That ad's something I'd want to keep since it's what got me to the store THAT DAY to buy my first ST. I can understand why they'd block it too, but if you can't print it, what's the point? Personally, I'd put together a high-res PDF of all of them and block printing. There are ways to allow people to buy printing keys for PDF files. Mike
Starman
Working now. I put that ad up and already two coworkers laughed at it. Look at the price on that PC/AT! Mike
oesii
Yeah, I printed out a color copy of it as well. Great history piece, I didn't get an ST at the time but that would have been good ammunition for the parents I do remember my dad brought home a PC-AT from work around the same time so we got to play Wheel of Fortune and Gorilla.bas on a $4600 machine

Starman
You can download them if you right click, hit enter instantly and then right click instantly after that. I think it's easier if I use my Mac Mike

www.atarimania.com
Hello, Thanks for the comments so far. As we stated, the main reason why we wanted to create this website was to fill in some of the gaps we noticed among the other Atari pages. A fairly big part of the site will deal with the VCS and the A8 (although you should not dismiss the rest). For rare catalogs and scans of hard-to-find cartridges, please visit our 2600 section. Also featured are many pictures not available anywhere else. There will also be many EXCLUSIVE additions in the near future, PAL content and non-US magazines being some of them. The A8 area should please a lot of game lovers. With the recent demise of Homesoft, sites devoted to A8 gaming are few and far between. Our aim is twofold: offer you the ultimate place for your gaming needs and make this place a true repository of complete gameware info. This should prove a big step towards the "preservation act" we want to promote among the A8 community, in the spirit of similar places for other platforms (GB64, EAGER, World of Spectrum, TACGR...). There is already a HUGE amount of rarely-seen box scans, ads and general info in our database (you can now check the figures on the left of the page) and this is only the begining Also feel free to visit the different forums. The Rumor Mill and MIA sections should be valuable to all you completist A8 collectors. We know there are at least SOME of you out there. You know who you are I'll stop here as most of you have already fallen asleep. Just let us know what you think of everything. Outside help would also be greatly appreciated as we want this to be a real community effort. The A8 is turning 25 this year. Let's make this celebration something BIG! -- Atarimania Team http://www.atarimania.com
