Andre
...sold at ebay for $287! How desperate must these guys have been Ok, it's rare stuff, but that lot of money just for a cardboard folder with disk? Would be cheaper to buy a color laser printer and ... What's your opinion? Starman
Oh, MAN I loved that game as a kid. Not many people know that it was what Leisure Suit Larry was based on. $287 is a LOT. I remember it had an actual cover - a guy in a hottub with some women around him. I don't know if it's worth $287!!! I played it under emulation last night, and didn't pay a dime . Tempest
I didn't even know there was an Atari version. I thought it was Apple II only. Tempest

Callipygous
I didn't even know there was an Atari version. I thought it was Apple II only. Tempest Atari 800 was the first version! andylama
I remember seeing it in ~1982 as a disk in a plastic bag with the plain Sierra logo on it. I also remember part of the game where a clerk asks you a dozen questions about what kind of condom you want, then blurts it out over the shop's intercom: "This guy wants an extra-small, banana flavored, glow-in-the-dark ribbed rubber!!" Stoooopid. Even Leisure Suit Larry for the PC is going for hundreds on eBay! Even more stoooopid! I wonder if the original author(s) even acknowledge this little gem. Anyone remember "ABUSE" by Don't Ask Software?
Callipygous
Yes , I have that disk. Hey, you weren't supposed to ask!
ZylonBane
Atari 800 was the first version! No, it wasn't. The Apple II version was first. http://www.mobygames.com/game/sheet/p,31/gameId,9303/
walter_J64bit
LOL Leisure Suit Larry for the 8-BIT!
ZylonBane
Ummm, no. Softporn is a pure text adventure. Leisure Suit Larry took the basic plot of Softporn and turned it into a King's Quest-style graphical adventure. LSL1 is well within the graphical capabilities of the Atari8, but it was never ported. Callipygous
Atari 800 was the first version! No, it wasn't. The Apple II version was first. http://www.mobygames.com/game/sheet/p,31/gameId,9303/ How can you tell? Both are 1981. No?
ZylonBane
Well, "This text game was written for Apple ][" was kind of a hint. If that's not enough for you, there's always Al Lowe's personal home page (the creator of all the LSL games): In 1981, a programmer named Chuck Benton was interested in doing database programming on the Apple ][, but he wasn’t sure if the tiny machine was up to it. As a "test case" he knocked out a little text-only adventure game. http://www.allowe.com/More/softporn.htm

Its just a web site and the one pointed to earlier says "I believe this is the first release of Softporn Adventure" with the Atari version pictured. Neither is conclusive. The AL Lowe is much more interesting and definitive. Thanks for that link.
