Donald_Ferren
I came across some odd looking Activision carts in my local flea market this past weekend. They were black with a rough textured surface with no place for any kind of label. Also, on the ends they had the Activision name embedded into the plastic at the top ends of the carts. Also, near the top ends, it had a few grooves that go all the way around the top. There was no indication of any kind of game name anywhere on the two carts. Anyone know what these are? joeybastard
Sounds like a 5200 cart, take a look at this: http://www.atariage.com/cart_page.html?Sof...wareLabelID=
Donald_Ferren
They are very similar to that, but they're small enough to be 2600 carts. Also, they have no labels and have no place for any label to go. Also the Activision name is inset into the top of cart.
Trade-N-Games
sounds like it may be a colecovision cart for the activision games

Donald_Ferren
The carts are still at the flea market. I'll pick them up this weekend. Until then, I've created an abominable mock-up in paint. Just imagine that the Activision logo stretches across the top of the cart and is inset into the plastic--not a label. Does this help? Mr.FoodMonster
Looks like a 2600 cart, but beyond that I have no idea. Its in the plastic, so thats strange as well.
Brad2600
Could be a copy of Double Dragon, Rampage or Commando. The mock-up looks similar to those games.
Donald_Ferren
Do you mean these? http://www.atariage.com/cart_page.html?Sof...wareLabelID=152 http://www.atariage.com/cart_page.html?Sof...wareLabelID=397 http://www.atariage.com/cart_page.html?Sof...twareLabelID=97 If so, nope, these things have no labels and no place for a label. It's as if they were designed to be mystery games.
Brad2600
If you could provide an image of the actual carts, it would definitely help the folks on here. The carts you have could be Brazilian or German carts. Who knows?
Duke 4ever
Hell, as far as we know, you might of uncovered new prototypes or something!
Donald_Ferren
I'll be able to pick them up on Satuday. I'll come back and post photos of them then.
Donald_Ferren
Ok, I feel stupid. Between me not getting a good look at these carts while I was there, and my bad memory--I had misremembered what was there. Bear with me, I'm just getting started on collecting for the 2600, but I learn fast. They were 3 regular Activision carts with no labels. I tried them out and one is Chopper Command, another was Dolphin. The third one refused to work at all, so it's still a mystery. Sorry for the confusion! I did have some real finds there this morning, though. Here they are, all loose, in rarity order (according to this site): H.E.R.O. (Activision) - rarity of 5! Woohoo! Summer Games (Epyx) - 4 Air Raiders (white label) - 3 Armor Ambush (black label) - 3 I got all of these for just a $1 each. Woohoo!
taxman
Nice find. Especially the H.E.R.O. game.
Room 34
Yes, congrats on H.E.R.O. Many 2600 fans (myself included) consider H.E.R.O. to be one of the top prizes in the system's library... rare enough to be an exciting find, and quite possibly the best game ever designed for the system! kyle
H.E.R.O is one of a handfull of games on the 2600 that are both rare and fun to play. Congrates on the find!
StanJr
Congrats on the HERO, and welcome to the hobby. Don't feel bad about mistaken identities, I thought I found a 2600 Ladybug when I first started, ended up being Coleco.
Dino from Bula
I never realized HERO was rare. It's in my collection, too. It's an awesome game.
kyle
Yeah H.E.R.O is a rarity 5 (RARE)
Mindfield
Nice job on H.E.R.O. I paid $10 for mine, but it was worth it. It's one of those games that's worth its salt. :-)

It's one of those games that's worth its salt. :-) I also think I paid about 10 for hero. Good job getting it for a buck I did get lucky on private eye for 3.00 a while back. Hero is still one of my favorite games for 2600 and 8 bit.
Lauren Tyler
I know how you feel about those blank cartridges. Unfortunately, there aren't any places in the Boston area to look for classic games. (Unless one of you Mass. residents out there can help me out!)
