Atari 7800 lack of red

why does the 7800 (5200 too) have this seemingly huge lack of the color red? I mean ive played tons of games that I would expect to have red, Donkey Kong mostly, is this some hardware restriction, a emulation bug, im somewhat color blind, what? I really want to know....

There is plenty of red in Robotron.

Well im not saying in ALL games, Im just asking basicly why the games that you would expect to have red, dont.

I just took a look through the screenshots online to find some games that have red. Here's what I found (these aren't all of them, but a decent enough sampling):

 

- Asteroids

- Ballblazer

- Barnyard Blaster

- Ballblazer

- Choplifter!

- Dark Chambers

- Fatal Run

- Joust

- Karateka

- Pole Position II

- Scrapyard Dog

 

So I don't think the 7800 has any problems with displaying red. However, while looking through all the 7800 screenshots there certainly seem to be a lot of games that use purple and violet. Not sure what's up with that.

ok ok then, so lots of 7800 games have red BUT Ive still to find out why Donkey Kong uses purple! (even the 2600 version had purple in it damn why did coleco make such a crappy version? The coleco version still is graphicly better then the 2600 version could have been....
