+davidcalgary29
Now that the "mystery" game has been revealed at PC5, does anyone have plans to burn any 8-bit carts? I'd certainly be interested in purchasing one.
Nukey Shay
According to the contest thread, that is impossible (due to the programmer's wishes). Since it is the wishes of the programmer that this game not be sold for profit, AtariAge will not be selling reproductions. This may very well be your only chance to own this amazing game on a cartridge.

But don't you think that those key words '....not to be sold for profit' leave the door open for some benevolent soul to make some carts for the general community? Perhaps Al can clarify the restriction on cart manufacturing here.
Nukey Shay
Programmers seem to be really big on something called "ethics". More important than "fun" it seems A public binary would certianly make it easier for people without any such ethics to start producing carts on their own, methinks It's all about the fun. Gabriel
I do believe that it was stated in one of the threads pertaining to the game that the binary would be made public after the show, but no reproduction carts will be sold.

Yes, that's true. I'm just trying to think of a way in which 8-bit carts could be made without violating the wishes of the programmer. Believe it or not, I don't have a WinTel clone at home, and can't use binaries easily. I'm stuck with obtaining programs the old-fashioned way: by disk, tape, or cart. Nukey Shay
Just contact somebody who's low on ethics There's a few of us...I mean them around. Disclaimer: I never burned an eprom in my life. Tho I won't stop you from sending me the equipment to do it.
classics
Depending on how the rom image is arranged it may work on flash cartridges. I still dont even know what the game is and havent seen any rom image so I couldnt say if it will work or not. Steve

bjk7382
I am assuming that the 8bit computer ROM will be released along with the 5200 rom. (I hope) Because then it is easily played with the sio2pc adapter. But I also think the Maxicart will play it on the 5200. (I think it is only 16k)
classics
I guess its Williams 'Blaster' then. I never actually played this game until a few minutes ago in MAME... very nice. I cant wait to see how this plays on the Atari! Steve
bjk7382
I cant wait to see how this plays on the Atari! Steve Blaster is a GREAT game, I was playing the arcade quite a bit at pc5, but the 5200 proto doesn't have 20 levels. There are only 4 levels and then they repeat. Also the spacemen look pretty rough. It is great graphics for the 5200 though, and it will be great if a 8bit computer rom image is released. geosteve
I am assuming that the 8bit computer ROM will be released along with the 5200 rom. The binaries for both versions will be released after PhillyClassic 5 so everyone can freely enjoy them!
