My favorites are: -- The AT-ATs in Empire Strikes Back -- The Berzerk robots (evil otto takes a close second) -- The quotile in Yars Revenge even though it probably was just a machine of some sort. Not content with just colliding into Mario head-on, these annoying objects seem to have a mind of their own as they intentionally and unexpectedly also find it in their hearts to roll down ladders (conveniently enough, the very same ladders that the player happens to be walking under or climbing)! Decades later, I'm still terrified of barrels and I never hesitate to cast a cautious glance upwards as I cross by a ladder in my daily travels.
