doncleth
Hi guys, Was there a Paperboy for the Atari 8-bit? If there is, can you post the ATR here? Thanks,
oesii
No Paperboy release for the 8bit, it was released later on for the ST and the Lynx but no 8bit. Like so many games towards the end of the 80's they even released it for the C64. http://www.mobygames.com/game/sheet/gameId,4577/
Tezz
Actually there was talk of an A8 conversion in progress back around '86? when the C64 version appeared. As usual, this was dropped because of the lower sales on the deminishing A8 market.
Avram
Paperboy was one of the potential conversions by UK publisher Harlequin. The following website lists the game but unfortunately doesn't give much information. Though you could always email the author. http://www.jetbootjack.com/JBJ_harlequinindex.html
doncleth
The reason I asked for it was because I saw the Paperboy ad in an Antic Magazine. Does that mean that publishers at that time were advertising games for games that are yet to be developed? Oh well I guess my only option is to play the Atari ST version. Thanks, Don
+davidcalgary29
Antic had quite a bit of ST crossover readership, so I'm sure that Mindscape regarded this as advertising money well spent. I think that, perhaps, Mindscape was undecided with respect for its plans for the A8 at the time that it drafted its ads for "Paperboy" and "Gauntlet", and ended up dropping "Paperboy" as a title as A8 software sales slowed. deathtrappomegranate
I think that a similar situation applies to "Bumper Bash", which was widely advertised as being available on cart for the 8-bit machines.
Heaven/TQA
doncleth... nothing changed in game industrie since 80s... advertice games (and create a buzz) for games which MIGHT come... see games nowadays as well (gamecube version? etc....) and in 80/90s we had 4-5 platforms (spectrum, armstrad, c64, amiga, atari st, sometimes PC)
