sku_u
There are some good reference images of it here: http://www.gamerzuniverse.net/base/Atarijoysticks.htm
ATARIPITBULL
Good luck getting the NTSC type, they are hard to get complete, but the PAL ones come up all the time from places like Australia, were they seem to have a shit load of them.
dwh
There are some good reference images of it here:http://www.gamerzuniverse.net/base/Atarijoysticks.htm Thanks for the link--just proves that the Atari 2600 had the most joysticks and 'add-ons' than any other game system.I only have a few of the items listed there and do not have the room for the rest! paul
Here is an article from Popular Science Magazine, October 1983. dykesr
Okay i got some more questions about the compumate. I know htat they are in both PAL and NTSC formats, and that teh PAL is much more common but, what do i need to get the PAL compumate to work if i have an NTSC t.v. and i have an NTSC atari 2600. HELP PLEASE RD
Spirantho
Pictures speak louder than words.... Of course my TV is PAL, but as long as your NTSC TV can take a 50Hz signal you'll get exactly what I just got. The signal is still NTSC as that's what your Atari is pumping out. Vic George 2K3
What's that system with the floppy disk drive below your TV?
Spirantho
That's a Philips NMS8250 - it's a rather funky MSX2 system... always useful to have around the place.
dykesr
So if I were to buy a PAL TV the compumate would work on it without a problem??? RD
CPUWIZ
You would need to buy a NTSC television that can also handle a PAL signal, they are called multistandard televisions. Either that or you have to buy a PAL television and a nasty big old power converter.
dykesr
why would i need a power converter and how much would one of those cost and where could i get 1? RD
BigFairy321
in the US u have a different power rating, something like 120V... in UK and australia we run on 220V Most new TV are both ntsc and pal compatible...............
dykesr
so that explains why i can play some PAL carts on my TV?? But will i be able to use teh PAL compumate on my Television?? RD
Spirantho
The chances of using the Compumate on your TV are the same as any other cart - it really depends on the frequency the compumate puts out, which I don't know. If it's close to PAL standard, and you can normally display PAL carts, it should be fine. However, you don't need a PAL TV. If you're writing to this forum on a computer, which you will be, then just do what I did and import a TV card from eBay or something... then you can use your computer as a PAL TV without any step-down transformers and stuff. Works for me (I have two NTSC TV cards just for that job - cheaper than importing an NTSC telly!).
