AtariDude
While they are still around in some form or another, the impression that I get from those in the Amiga community is similar to what the Atari community feels about the new Atari. That they are using a name to sell their products which has little to do with the original. Granted they did release a new version of the Amiga OS but I am not sure what was accomplised with the new OS unless it added support for things that were not available during the Amiga's heyday (USB support for example). Cybernoid
btw. regarding c64 vs who ever... just reminds me limahl's song "neverending stooooooooooorrrrryyyyyy" Ah, Kajagoogoo, Atari, C64.... It feels like 1985 again! BTW, my wife just downloaded Neverending Story from Napster last week. It is constantly playing in the background here... Okay, so maybe this was a pointless post, but... -C
AtariDude
yeah I remember my friends and I arguing over who had the better machine (Atari 800XL or Commodore 64). I always remember that the C64 took forever and a day to load something from a diskette while my XL took very little time. Both were good machines and could perform a variety of functions. I think the C64 sold more machines than the XL so in a sense you could say that the C64 won the battle although I still would have gone with my XL if I had to do it again. TMR
yeah I remember my friends and I arguing over who had the better machine (Atari 800XL or Commodore 64). I always remember that the C64 took forever and a day to load something from a diskette while my XL took very little time. The opposite is true from tape, the UK was primarily tape-based so the Atari had a stumbling block there - i remember spending half an hour waiting for Elektraglide or One Man And His Droid to load... I think the C64 sold more machines than the XL so in a sense you could say that the C64 won the battle... Well, the C64 is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest selling home computer of all time (estimated at some 30 million units) so you could say it sold more... =-)
Zaxxon
Quit your whining Atari users You don't know how good you have/had it. Zaxxon, Coleco ADAM user
AtariDude
It was a shame with Adam. It had the makings of a good computer but it would have needed to make a few changes (introduce a floppy disk at the beginning and remove the power supply from the printer).
