Atari 8-Bit Voice Synthesis Questions

I'm looking to get ahold of some voice-synthesis hardware/software and have a few questions:

 

1. Is S.A.M. compatible with an 800XL?

 

2. How hard is the Voice Box by Alien Group to acquire and what software do I need to make it work? Also what is it capable of?

The software spech synthesis S.A.M. was available for the A8. As I remember, the version I had needed a small basic routine to execute. You should be able to find that on the web

sam is text to speech, a bit hard to understand but good when you need lots of speech.

For good sounding speech, up to about 64 short digitized waveforms, try voice master. Voice master allowed you to record your own audio.

 

Voice master also allowed speech recognition.

Yes SAM is compatible with the 800xl, like I already mentioned I have an

Alien Group Voicebox for sale. Sam would blank the screen to talk, the

voice box is much higher quality voice synth and it does not require the

extra cpu instru that SAM does. It is adjustable by pitch/voice and can

even sing (such as it is). The only other thing I can think of off hand is

that the voicebox can be adjusted (via a knob on the device) in

real-time. Ummm... SAM does have a good blackjack game... "place
