kaneda23
Hello, I am soon to be the owner of an Atari 800XL computer. It doesn't come with a disk drive or tape recorder, but I would like to have some way to store programs that I write. The SIO2PC cable isn't really an option because my Atari will not be in the same room as my computer. I guess a floppy drive would be the best option. Is there one model that is best? Would disks be difficult to acquire? Thanks.
Goochman
1050 disk drive would prob be your best option - Look for one that has a US Doubler upgrade to allow for true double density storage.
kaneda23
Thanks for the reply. Do I need DOS to use a disk drive? Or can I store/retrieve files from Basic?
Goochman
You will need a DOS also - MyDOS and Sparata DOS work well - Dos 2.5 is good also.
