Polnish Floppydrive TOMS720

Hi Atarianer,

 

Can anybody help me? I get a polnish floppydrive without documents or manual.

The name is TOMS720. I search for a english manual.

Thanks for this link. At first time I search over google and I found many pages but not a manual.

My trouble is there are 4 buttons on the floppydrive and a two digit display. If I switch a button

the display information change to another number or a special symbol.

Who can help me?

I wonder if the buttons are trying to simulate the drive switches on the original - if the display shows '1' does the drive work as Drive 1? When you push the buttons what values do you get?

Normal Mode und Ultra Speed Mode (70000 bps)

If no floppy disk insert MYDOS will be booting.

Special copy program.

 

Available densities:

SS-SD 40 tracks/18 sectors/128 bits/90KB,

SS-ED 40/26/128/130KB,

SS-DD 40/18/256/180KB,

SS-iD 40/9/512/180KB Format IBM,

DS-DD 40/18/256/360KB,

DS-QD 80/18/256/720KB,

DS-ID 40/18/512/360KB Format IBM,

DS-CD Atari ST = IBM 720KB

 

80 Tracks-Laufwerk,

Buffer 8KB,

Logic Disk! On one 720k disk you can save 8 normal bootable disks.

Two digits display.

 

4 functions buttons: (ZAPIS=SAVE(1. from left), TYP=TYPE(2.), SCIEZKA=TRACK(3.), BLAD=ERROR(4.))

 

Available functions: Buffer on / off : 2. + 4.,

Change drive number: 4. + 2.,

odd or even Traks : 4. + 3.,

Change logical disk : 3. + 2.,

Can somebody give me more information?

The "Zapis" LED & Button (the first one form left) - if LED's on - you may write on disk, if it's off - the disk is write-protected!

And beware of turning off the drive only by "unplugging" it without turning it off with a on/off switch. Some models could write something to disk destroying the data on it...

Or any other Polish made drive I have the XFD602 dual drive...

For Karin Maxi Disk Drive - search for PCB. It was a PCB modul (internal or external for expansion port computers) and you can added normal disk drive from ST or PC (I have 3,5", 720 KB capabity drive and 2 other 5,25": 720 and 360 KB).

Is there someone who can look on the second-hand market in Poland for such hardware for me ?

I can get a TOMS720 again but very expensive. You must give 200 Euro for it!

The seller say that the drive is very rar.
