Thanks for the answer!

I guess it's off to EBaay then.

I actually have The Thing on DVD, and what they say at the beginning is......drumroll............"Out, out!", "Get the hell out of here, it's not a real dog, it's somekind of thing", "It imitates a dog", "Damn idiots, get away!".

It's really bad Norwegian, and it's fun to listen to. :D

Actually the UK uses PAL-I whereas most of continental Europe (including Norway) uses PAL-B/G. The main difference is the sound encoding. If your TV can handle the different types of PAL (most modern PAL TVs can), then you should have no problem using a VCS from ebay.co.uk. Otherwise you might have more luck with a VCS from ebay.de.

Even if your TV doesn't support PAL-I (and it probably doesn't in my experience) there's a big friendly variable-resistor inside, which, when twiddled with, will turn your PAL-I machine into a PAL-B machine (effectively).

I've done this with a number of pirate clones, pretty sure it'll work on Euro Ataris too (though usually I just mod 'em).
