Cooper
Maybe this should be under hardware, but my question is: Can I use a UK 2600 on my Norwegian TV? It's PAL, so there should be no problems, right?
Nukey Shay
I would think so. BTW have you ever seen John Carpenter's The Thing? What were the Norwegians shouting at the beginning? I always wondered about that
Cooper
Thanks for the answer! I guess it's off to EBaay then. I actually have The Thing on DVD, and what they say at the beginning is......drumroll............"Out, out!", "Get the hell out of here, it's not a real dog, it's somekind of thing", "It imitates a dog", "Damn idiots, get away!". It's really bad Norwegian, and it's fun to listen to.
highinfidelity
Yeah, I guess it should work fine. You'll probably have problems with the freaky UK 240V connectors, but that's something you can easily fix with a pair of scissors and a screwdriver... Eckhard Stolberg
Actually the UK uses PAL-I whereas most of continental Europe (including Norway) uses PAL-B/G. The main difference is the sound encoding. If your TV can handle the different types of PAL (most modern PAL TVs can), then you should have no problem using a VCS from ebay.co.uk. Otherwise you might have more luck with a VCS from ebay.de. Ciao, Eckhard Stolberg
Spirantho
Even if your TV doesn't support PAL-I (and it probably doesn't in my experience) there's a big friendly variable-resistor inside, which, when twiddled with, will turn your PAL-I machine into a PAL-B machine (effectively). I've done this with a number of pirate clones, pretty sure it'll work on Euro Ataris too (though usually I just mod 'em).
