scmor92
It's my understanding that you can make a back-up copy of a Starpath tape by just copying it onto a standard audio tape. Am I correct, or is there some kind of special cassette tape/procedure that must be used? I have three games (Dragonstomper, Mindmaster and Phasor Patrol), and I really want to make copies before they die on me. Thanks in advance for any info. NovaXpress
You should be playing copies anyway. You never know when a tape will get eaten or warped so why risk the precious originals? I showed a younger friend (and I mean like 26) my Atari 800 setup and he was freaked out by the tape player and the modem. The kids can't believe that we ever used sound to transfer data. Nukey Shay
Alternately, you can convert downloaded .bins to .wavs and record those from your PC's audio output (so you can play Starpath games on your console that you don't own yet...in addition to most of the 4k/under games and hacks). Bruce Tomlin
1) Get a copy of the Stella Gets A New Brain CD (hurry, I hear there's only 800 left from the second run!) 2) ??? 3) Profit! Why make your own backup copy when someone else has already done it better?
Nukey Shay
A: Because it doesn't cost anything...besides a spare or erased audio cassette.
scmor92
Thanks for all the replies! I'm gonna go search around for some tapes. I'm just glad I keep a dual cassette deck lying around for all my 80s hair-band tapes! Now I can put it to good use.
Tsukasa
I tried to backup my tapes with old tapes, it doesn't work very well..... Your better off buying a pack of new ones.
