PAL, Label Variation or Neither?

I recently received two (2) Mario Bros. carts.

 

One has this label:

And the other has the standard silver label.

 

Both are copyright 1983, but the silver label mentions something about Ninetendo Worldwide xyxyx (forget the rest).

 

Anyway, I presumed this was a PAL cart, but both played fine when I tried them. I've never been able to play PAL (boy say that 10 times fast ) games before (Obelix), so now I'm unsure.
