keilbaca
Awesome! Heehee, by the looks of it, you were moments away from the "Ultra-Crazed Wave" Great job Thanks again, I decide to try the score again, looks like i wore in my final good joystick... I move two slots all the time now and always get blown up. So i'm pretty positive that's my final score.
gospeedde
121,000 I get so excited about that extra guy at 110,000 that I blow it completely and die right afterwards every time.
Numan
First Try: 75,00!!! However, after 90 more minutes of playing, I only managed to up it to: 76,000 Beginners luck, I guess.
Jeffy Arensmeyer
To quote one of my favorite "School House Rock" segments... "Out of the frying pan and into the fire" Well, here's my score for the week. And it is, in fact, the previous world record score. After the arrogance and pompous attitude I've shown towards other scores and photos, no one here would surprise me if they rejected it on sight. My hat's off to Todd and the 5th ghost for being able to merely see anything beyond 327500, much less being able to navigate it. "Cut lose the sand bags, but the balloon wouldn't go any higher" Please trust when I say I've tried to do better than this score, even if it was merely by 500 points. The time and the drive just hasn't been there for me, by my own fault. I'm sorry to everyone here, not for raising questions, but for the manner in which I raised those questions. I'm glad the skeptics commented along the way, but equally appreciative that others didn't jump on the bandwagon that has quickly and decisively burst into flames. And as arrogantly and unnecessarily suggested to another person here, I'll shut my mouth now. Thanx... Jeff ò¿ó

Ze_ro
Well, that's the end of that week.. and what a fun week it was! Anyways, congrats to everyone on their scores... I'm still impressed that this game still gets faster after the Crazed Wave... even though I never got far enough to see that. I hope everyone joins us for the next game! --Zero
Chris++
I'll be happy to dump my ROM, but I don't know how. You want me to just send someone my Taz cart? (I've gotten xx,100-type scores several times in the past, so I hesitate to call it a "glitch"...and I certainly don't cheat, or I'd be in first place. )
Thomas Jentzsch
I'll be happy to dump my ROM, but I don't know how. You want me to just send someone my Taz cart? As Jeffy pointed out above, your score is very possible with the usual cart.
Chris++
Cool. Wish I could afford a digital camera, even though we're mainly working on the honor system anyway. I like the idea of this weekly little high-score contest. Adds a bit of punch to the ol' 2600 obsession.
Shannon
I'm sure that Todd Rogers has a means of getting the cart in question to someone who can dump it. It would make a nice addition to the atari community.
Jeffy Arensmeyer
If Thomas has more time to look over the code, it would be interesting to know if there are calculations performed inside the joystick input routine. Sometimes, it's difficult to hit the lane you want, even if you bump the joystick. It seems like at times the game will move Taz accordingly, but at other times it overcompensates. And by the way; this was a great game. I didn't know I even had it, so I looked at my list, then it was in the last case I checked. ò¿ó
keilbaca
I'm not sure if it was made during this time and it disappeared among the move, but isn't there a hack floating around where it fixes the joystick problem? that when you tap up, you go up every time, and only one space instead of how its programmed now, to where it sometimes goes down or it goes down twice instead? PressureCooker2600
got me a 107,000 on Taz last night....i know its not my best though
Tempest
Ok I know this is a mega old thread, but I stumbled across this researching something else. Was this ever settled? Was this '1984' version ever dumped?
Botbird208
noone ever found a rom for the 1984 version
Tempest
Sorry to bump this ancient thread again, but I was going through some Taz prototypes and it made me think of it. All the versions of Taz that I've played from the earliest that doesn't even have all the food in it to the last which was basically the released the version with Steve's easter egg not yet hidden had the exact same scoring system. Given what's happen to Todd's umm... sterling reputation since this thread was made I've come to the conclusion that he was full of crap. There's no rare alternate scoring 1984 version. The only way something like that could happen is if either Atari decided to make a production change (which makes no sense given this wasn't a bug or anything) or if they accidentally used a prototype rom for one of the reprints (which HAS happened such as with 7800 Winter Games), but given my research such a prototype does not exist. I doubt anyone else cares about this at this point, but I just thought I'd post my findings.
