Atari 810 and 1050 question

Could someone explain to me the upgrade options for the Atari 810 and Atari 1050 disk drives and, if possible, how to identify these upgrades?

I have a crapload of drives and need to determine what has been upgraded. But have no clue what to look for.

Thanks.

There were two main up grades if i remember correct

Happy was one this gave you full control of the disk drive so you could copy games and write bad sectors etc

Then there was warp drive which give you faster speed.

Happy was a chip that replace the original on in the disk drive so one way is to take a part and see if it has a happy chip installed

You could also try booting happy software and seeing if it say's its installed

810 - Had a 'Happy' option to provide faster speed and ability to copy protected disks

1050 - Had a 'Happy' option to provide faster speed, copy protected disks and provide true double density compatibility

1050 - US Doubler provided faster speed and double density

There are prob more but these are the most popular I believe

i fitted a happy chip to my 1050 many years ago when i was working on how to protect games and if i remember correct should be easy to see as it had happy written on the chip.

Or you could send me all the drives and i will keep them but i promise to tell you what was fitted heheheheheh
