atarimind
Hello! I have two copies of Pitfall II, and whenever I want to play any of the two catridges I have to clean the contacts with alcohol. Is this a common problem with Activision catridges? Is anyone experiencing the same thing with Pitfall II? Also, how good/bad is to clean the contacts with alcohol? Does this hurt the life of a catridge? Any other suggestion? Thanks!
rockman_x_2002
Well, of course, it depends on the kind of Atari system you are using. Take me for instance. I use a 7800 to play my VCS titles on. And I also have some problems loading Pitfall II if I merely plug the cartridge in as you would most games. I find, however, that if you give it a little extra nudge, or if you prop another cart on top of the game while you play, that generally tends to make the game load okay. As far as I can recall in my old, nonworking 7800 and nonworking 2600, I didn't have to do anything. It loaded right up. So again, I'm sure that the problem varys from console to console. keilbaca
Sounds like your atari itself is dirty. This is what you do. Take a clean cart, and clean it with rubbing alcohol. Then insert the cartridge into the atari at least 20 or so times, cleaning it regularly, like every 5 times or so. This will get the dirt out, and it'll play fine.
