64squares
Today I picked a lot of Atari stuff and in the mix was a light sixer that has a busted reset switch and a thick layer of dust, but other than that it seems like it's in good shape. I want to carefully restore it and package it for resale with some of my duplicate carts. I did some research and I'm going to buy a replacement switch from Best Electronics, and I was thinking of buying one of those joystick repair kits on eBay and a bottle of Atari orange paint as well. Of course when I sell it, either locally or on eBay, I'll be certain to mention that it was restored and that I used paint if in fact I do, but I'm wondering what the consensus is regarding this. Should I try and touch it up with paint or is it better to just leave it as is? Thanks!
FireTiger
I think that the people who care if the paint is there can do it themselves, maybe if you can figure out a way to do this offer the paint restoration as an extra for a BIN unless they request you not doing it. Adrian M
Personally, I didn't really even notice the faded/missing paint on my first Heavy Sixer. After I got a second one which had better paint, it did seem to make the console stand out a bit more and since then, I've always maintained that the orange trim is an important part of a Heavy Sixer's appearance. You should repaint it if you can.
