Shernand
Hi, I just brought this promotional atari 2600 in the wild, but it has "strange effects" in most games, for example, in enduro the car goes to the right and keeps going to the right (even surpassing the limits of the racetrack), with pacman it keeps scoring "alone", and the score keeps growing and growing (!!!!!) The only games that behaves ok is combat. Any idea of what's going on with this console? Thanks, Shernand Pd : In the back it says "manufactured by atari-wong ltd. in hong kong ... model cx2600a" and there's a "NOT FOR RESALE, FOR PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY"
keilbaca
I thought that promotional atari's came from sunnydale, ca? http://www.atariage.com/2600/archives/consoles.html
Saikyo
See what happens without joysticks plugged in. If you get the same problems then It's probably broken. If the problem stops then It's a fault with the joystick ports and can be probably rectified!
Shernand
Maybe this is some kind of prototype or something like it, since i also never heard anything of ATARI-WONG LTD.... Also, the switches for power / tv type, game select and game reset seem to be made of some kind of silver... Any other ideas? -- Shernand
keilbaca
no that sounds about right, take apart the system and see if you see any dirt, then either use rubbing alcohol and scrub it clean or if you can use canned air... but could be a stella chip problem as well. I had paddles die suddenly... found out it was the stella chip after some troubleshooting... Atari Wong is kinda common, i have a light sixer made by them.
