alienblue
Can someone tell me what the heck the "graphic" behind the warlords wall represents? A crown? A king on da throne? A guy with a big nose? A chopped off "E"?!
Cap5750
Uhm...you mean the castle? Cap
joeybastard
I always thought it was the top half of a king on his throne.
Nukey Shay
Looks more like a Defender ship But yeah...4 kings sitting helpless on their thrones. Apparently, they are all wusses
Jeffy Arensmeyer
After looking at both the box and the cart art, and reading the description, these guys would at most be princes, but not kings. Based upon the art, I believe the object is each Warlord's own catapult within his castle walls. However, the manual says... ...Your warlord is located inside the castle... so it's really hard to determine what they are, since the arcade game used "good guy / bad guy" heads. ...and to contradict that (I just got back to typing this reply), www.klov.com has... ...The original prototype had the name Castles & Kings... So it's likely we can call them whatever we want. ò¿ó
Susuwatari
I always thought they were flags.
highinfidelity
While we're talkin', on the PAL edition there's a "wrap" on the (upper?) 1/3 of the screen. Shields get awfully distorted when they're over that line, and the ball almost disappears. Does the NTSC display the same freaky thing? Cap5750
Kind of reminds me of the Statue Of Liberty. Cap
Big Player
The graphic behind the walls in "Warlords" is a Warlord. The graphic in front of the walls is a shield. The dot that moves around the screen is a fireball. Those rainbow colored--oh wait, you already know that. Thank you all for playing. Room 34
While we're talkin', on the PAL edition there's a "wrap" on the (upper?) 1/3 of the screen. Shields get awfully distorted when they're over that line, and the ball almost disappears. Does the NTSC display the same freaky thing? That's on the NTSC version too. The color of the ball changes to match the color of the bricks on whatever line it's on (typical 2600 limitation... Breakout and Super Breakout do that too). But beyond that, there's definitely a "warp" or "wrinkle" or something to that effect on the board as well... I have never quite figured out why that's happening, but it reminds me of a billboard when they accidentally overlap two of the sheets, or the fold in a magazine if the pages are cut incorrectly and part of the spread gets tucked under. highinfidelity
Hmmm, interesting! I wonder if the homebrews programmers have some time to take a look at the code and see why in the hell they had to do that...
Nostalgic
If you're referring to when the shield is going around the outer corner of the wall, I think what you see is a few lines of the diagonal-facing graphic combined with a few lines of the horizontal- or vertical-facing graphic. highinfidelity
I don't think it's just that: the ball also disappears. It's really like a "folding" in the screen. Plus, it happens only on the upper portion of the screen; if it was just the graphics it would simmetrycally happen in the lower portion of the screen as well, wouldn't it?
