jnice
Just picked this game up yesterday in a thrift store, with a heap of other disks (for PCs, though...and most of them not games, unfortunately). One side of the NINJA disk is supposed to be for IBM compatible computers, while the other side has Atari and Commodore 64/128 both on the same side. I tried firing the game up on my 800XL yesterday, and got the evil "Boot Error" message, even when I tried holding the option key. Am I doing something wrong, or is the disk most likely just damaged or erased? The screenshots I've seen online look like it's a VERY cool game! Do you have to use keys on the keyboard for movement, or does it work with a joystick?
tjlazah
Hmmm I had always wondered if that was true, to have both the Commodore 64 and Atari XL XE version on the same side. Do you have a Commodore 64 / 128 you can try it on? You can always download the game from the net too.
jnice
Unfortunately, no, I don't have a C64 to test this... Guess I'll have to stick with 2600 Double Dragon (ugh!) if I want to play any Atari beat-up type of game.
Trip_Cannon
Is this Mastertronic's Ninja? That one is pretty decent...
Nukey Shay
If so...it uses the joystick. But IMO it gets boring and too easy to beat after a few games (so you can handicap yourself by not using throwing stars or sword chops). jnice
Yes, it is the Mastertronics game. I don't know if this is the same company that released "Speed King," which I wasn't too crazy about. Anyway, "Speed King" seemed to have an easier label to read. RJ
The company is the same. The NINJA disk should self-boot w/out holding any buttons. Mine always did (& does).
Avid Fan
Ninja is pretty fun. I loved playing it on my old monochrome PC when everyone else had real consoles. Fun, but short, and not for everybody
