bjk7382
I have an odd .atr file of what looks like a work in progress of someone trying to port the 2600 superman to the computers. Why would someone want to do that (especially with such a bad game) I could see this being useful if it were done to a good game like thrust or somehing (since the 8-bit computer version of that game sucks) I also have another .atr of what looks like a ripoff of stampede... Which actually plays worse on the computer than on the 2600. I know this isn't a port of stampede, but it still looks pretty bad in comparison So were there any other games on the computers like superman that would have been a straight port from the 2600? superman2600__roundup.zip
classics
Fast Eddie, Turmoil, Worm War and all the other titles by that company are programmed 2600 style with just cycle counting and no interrupts. Those are the only titles I've ever come across that are programmed that way. Steve
+davidcalgary29
I believe that many of the Activision titles (Kaboom, Pitfall) and Imagic 8-bit games were straight 2600 ports. Some of the A8 protos floating around (MASH, Hot Lips, Mogul Mania) also seemed to have suffered this fate.
deathtrappomegranate
All of this is odd, since the 2600 was so much harder to write for. Still, there's never any shortage of "folks" trying to make a quick profit. Capitalism - there are worse systems!

Callipygous
All those Sirius games (Worm War I. Fast Eddie, Turmoil, Fantastic Voyage etc) were apparently just the 6502 code from the 2600 game with minimal adaptation to the A8. If nothing else, its bad for the programmers like David Lubar who did such a fine job on the 2600 to have their names attached to what is essentially a hack.
