Mindfield
Here's one I've never gotten before. I got another copy of Dragster -- nice, minty label, too, replacing my slightly less nice label. However, though Activision don't use dust covers on the carts, I found in the bottom of this one a die-cut foam sponge that fit perfectly around the edge connector and slot keys. Did they all come like that and people just removed the sponges? It works without having to remove the sponge, of course. I've just never encountered this before. spongebue
I'll bet one of the previous owners put that there, but I dunno.
CPUWIZ
This comes up from time to time ... http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=22237
Mindfield
Ah, so it's not common, but a known quantity at least. Cool... mine appears to have the non-disintegrating variety. I think I'll keep it there. :-)
Godzilla
yea i've encountered a few actisponges in my day, but sadly much more actiplaque. id rather have a high sponge to plaque ratio, but this is unfortunately not the case. +Random Terrain
Activision Sponge? Didn't they make a Seinfeld episode about that? I don't remember having a sponge in any of my cartridges.

video game addict
Yeah these are fairly uncommon. The first time I found one I searched here & sure enough it had come up before, but I had never noticd the topic. SO it was new to me too, until recently. I've found maybe a half dozen or so a couple of the carts in my collection still have them in place. The black deteriorating ones are awful. I cleaned one out just last week as I was preparing some games I had sold & didn't want to leave it in for new owner. They are very messy. My Dragster also has the lighter one as pictured above, those I leave in, they seem not to be hurting anything.
D.Yancey
Dragster is the only cart I've ever had it in. It was the messy kind and it no longer exists. I suppose it could have been in all of the earliest releases of carts(the originals-Dragster, Bridge, Checkers and Boxing)?
Kenwood
Mine came in Bridge
