spongebue
I have itunes anyways, I'm just putting in a vote for everyone else and helping others download and donate. Anyways, I'm listening to Limitations of the System right now (the song, that is) and it is great. The higher pitched melody has a great carefree "floating" sound to it, which I love. frogstar_robot
If you have the w32codec pack installed then you can use Mplayer to play those AACs. The only ones you'll run into trouble with are the ones with DRM on them. I was able to play them no problem. xxxxxxx@Amelia-Bedelia:~$ mplayer BoogiePreacher.m4a MPlayer 1.0pre5-3.3.4 © 2000-2004 MPlayer Team CPU: Intel Pentium 4/Xeon/Celeron Foster 2816 MHz (Family: 8, Stepping: 5) Detected cache-line size is 64 bytes MMX2 supported but disabled SSE supported but disabled SSE2 supported but disabled CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 0 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 0 SSE2: 0 Compiled for x86 CPU with extensions: MMX Reading config file /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf Reading config file /home/dmaxwell/.mplayer/config Reading /home/dmaxwell/.mplayer/codecs.conf: Can't open '/home/dmaxwell/.mplayer/codecs.conf': No such file or directory Reading /etc/mplayer/codecs.conf: 73 audio & 180 video codecs Using Linux hardware RTC timing (1024Hz). Bryan
If MP3 offends your ears, encode to OGG instead. It's open-source, better quality than MP3 and AAC at equivalent bitrates, and is supported by all the major media players. Yeah, I don't understand why Vorbis is so ignored. It seems like the current trend is toward WMA. What is it about free and superior that turns people off? -Bry

Most of the hardware mp3 companies are arms of the same corperations that own the records companies, so of course they will push drm equipped hardware this is probaly why its taken sony so lon to come out with their ipod knockoff that and their love affair with atrac

Room 34
Room 34: I think your stuff sounds really cool. Thanks! BTW, sorry I've been incommunicado on this thread lately... I spent the whole weekend stripping wallpaper and repainting the kitchen. 16 hours on Saturday alone!!!
