Synthead
I've seen 2600 controllers with and without the yellow "TOP" paint. Why do some have paint and some don't have paint? Just curious ...
Blackjack
The original heavy sixer joysticks had yellow paint. The later sticks had orange paint. The "Vader" units came with all black sticks.
joeybastard
The "Vader" units came with all black sticks. They did? I had a Vader as a kid, it had orange paint. Every Atari made stick I've seen has yellow or orage paint. The only all black sticks I've seen, the paint wore off.
Lemmi
i always thought they did, my first atari was a vader and it came with 2 black joysticks, here the best pic i could get, it doesnt look like there is any unusual wear on the dashes, and i never tried to rub an orange stick with my thumb to see if the orange comes off easy, anyone want to try that? CPUWIZ
The "Vader" units came with all black sticks. They did? Yep, at least most of them did. I have personally handled brand new all black sticks.
keilbaca
Didn't the sears telegames come with black sticks? I got me a 6 switch sears atari with the original sticks, and they're all black
joeybastard
The "Vader" units came with all black sticks. They did? Yep, at least most of them did. I have personally handled brand new all black sticks. Learn something new everyday! I'm guessing some of the times I assumed the paint was worn off, they might have been all black sticks. Well you know the old thing about the word assume...
GrizzLee
FWIW.... I just aquired a brand new joystick (as in new in the box, never opened, never played) it was black, just like my 'Vader" sticks. Regards, -Lee
Synthead
So today, I went to the hobby shop, picked up some matching paint, and repainted the orange back onto my aging stick! It owns - I did such a nice job on it and it looks GREAT!
