Stella'sGhost
So, I have this 2600 cart with no lable, I can't get it to work, I don't know what it is.... if I take it apart, will there be some kind of clue inside? .... it makes a lovely coaster. I know, this is a dumb topic, but I'm bored and it's late.
moycon
Is the cart just a standard Atari cart? Like say as opposed to a Parker Brothers or other 3rd party cart? I say open it, whats it gonna hurt?

Stella'sGhost
OK, I've opend it and it says: C011885 REV F ATARI 1978 its probably combat... anyone know what those numbers mean?
D.Yancey
I was going to say make sure it's not a 7800 cart, but a date of 1978 rules that out.
Philflound
Have you tried cleaning the board? It may work afterwards. Very few Atari carts I've come across have completely not worked. They seem to be extremely reliable. Phil
Stella'sGhost
I cleaned the board, the contacts, everything. It refuses to work. I tried it on my other 2600, nada. I still say a million bucks it's combat.

StanJr
right, Combat would work just fine.
Ferris
how well did you clean the contacts? if it's that early of a cartridge there's nearly 30 years of age on the contacts... try giving them a good *dry* scrubdown using an eraser at the end of a pencil. go over each contact well and then wipe it clean. try it out then and see what goes. christianscott27
C011885 REV F ATARI 1978 its probably combat... anyone know what those numbers mean? i'm pretty sure the CO11885 is just the part number for the board itself and does not denote the game. Stella'sGhost
Yes I'm pretty sure that that number has nothing to do with the game. But it's stull a number, and that's a clue! Now we're getting somewhere.... I shall clean the contacts even more thoroughly and see what happens. exciting isn't it?

D.Yancey
I got a Laser Blast at a thrift store once and when I went to play it, it was Chopper Command. Only the label said Laser Blast. And I had my heart set on a thrilling 3 hour game of Laser Blast Variation 4.
Philflound
Once in awhile there will be a game that does not work no matter what you do. Keep the cart and throw away your $1 game. I think out of about 4000 carts I've tested, about 8 didn't work at all. Phil
