controling Realsports baseball

I don't know if this is a proper topic, but I'm hoping it is. I just bought Realsports baseball (which seems to suck pretty hard), and I can't figure out how to pitch. Now, I've read the online manual here and it says to program the pitch by pressng the direction then pressing the button. This is not working for me.

I thought the problem might be that I'm playing on a 7800, but I tried the gmae today on an "Atari Classics" series I have on my computer at work and had the same problem. I can bat just fine (and steal every base because of the horrible AI), I just can't pitch.

Anyone who has the game have this problem and can explain it to me. I mean frankly, I feel rediculus here, asking how to control something on a atari, but I really want to get my $1 worth. Thanks.

Play with the right joystick, perhaps?

You have to press down on the joystick and push the button at the same time to actually pitch the ball.

I think M Networks baseball was much better in the regards of control.

 

My only gripe about M Network Baseball is that because of the control scheme, there's no shortstop.

Thanks. I'd like to say "works like a charm", but really it works like a bad controller layout that should have been rethought before shipping. Still, at least now I can play, even if I don't want to. Thanks again.
