Posted this on dp earlier (so pardon my cut/paste ;)).. figured I'd post it in the 2600 forum since it's more traveled.. and hey, there's 2600 stuff in it.

Some kind soul scanned May 1982 Vol 1, No. 3 issue of Electronic Games and posted it on usenet. Thought I'd share it out if anyone's interested. Fun reading in all it's 1982 golden age glory.

19 megs. Snag it now as it won't be up there forever. If it's too slow for you the newsgroup is alt.binaries.emulators.misc

Thanks for posting this...what a great mag

I wish more people would scan these in and post them...

I'm slowly working on a page that I was planning to have some Electronic Games scans on (with other stuff), but I was hoping I could get away with just scanning in the front cover and a few pages that stand out to me from the inside. Is that good enough or do people want the whole thing? Seems like it would take a loooong time to scan in all of those pages.

Look at page 69. I can't believe that Apollo games was selling hacked game cartriges for 99.95 :D They were putting peoples initials into spacechase, so they could be king shit, just because their initials were in the game..

How rare would those be today, and how would you tell if your spacechase was modified like that :?:

I think the charm is reading the whole mag - adverts and all :)

do it! do it! do it!

I have to finish doing these other scans first before I even think about doing that. I hope someone else will beat me to it. I love having the scans on my web site once I'm done, but I hate doing the actual scanning since I haven't had a scanner yet that was perfectly aligned with the side so you can use it as a guide. I almost always have to preview 2 to 10 times trying to get as straight as possible.

Maybe I'll do some in 2005 if no one else does. I also ripped out articles from some of them to put in sheet protectors in notebooks on different game design subjects back in the early to 1990s, so I'll have to track those down too. At least those pages will be easier to scan.

I guess this means people will want me to scan in all of the pages from my K Power magazines too. If I do that, I will not spend much time cleaning them up then. It would take too long. Maybe it won't be so bad.

That's actually something I want to do..eventually. But 2 problems, 1. It really does take too long. and 2. Lack of a scanner :P

That being said I do have one here at work. Here's an issue of Joystik I scanned a while ago:http://www.spaceballsthewebsite.com/ne146/Joystik%20Dec%2082%20COMPLETE/

I've converted the above to a pdf doc. 12.6 meg. I can send it to you if you want.

I was contacted a few months ago by a fellow who wanted to do a similar project, I wonder if was the same guy? He asked if I wanted to assist in a scanning project for EG Mags and convert them to PDF. I declined because of the amount of time involved and also because I felt that at some point, CD ROM collections of this would be showing up for sale on eBay. I will say that whoever did this one did a nice job!

BTW, I have a cover gallery of all my mags on my site:

and I have been known to scan particular articles on request! :D

Sure! :) I'm thinking that those are sort of not really good images to use for that.. I shrunk them down a little too much for the sake of space... so they aint exactly the best quality pics.

But hey, in a pinch it will do. :)

Photoshop + Image->Transform->Rotate + manual adjustment in the degrees field. Voila! :-)

Oh yeah, I can do that now since I scan in such a huge image. I can rotate, then resize and the image quality shouldn't suffer too much. It used to suffer when I used smaller images.

Since we are sharing scans, here are a few from Playboy Guide: Electronic Entertainment. I won't be scanning in all of the pages from that since most of it is boring and not game related:
