Rhindle The Red
Sorry for the "AP wire headline-speak", but I couldn't help myself. From June through October of this year, I was working for Legends LP, a trading card distribution company. Some time around August, we got in big factory sets of Upper Deck's "The History of the United States" cards. Although it looked very nice, it was quite a pricy set, so I never gave it a thought. Recently, however, I went to a local trading card / collectible store and found that the series had come out in packs as well. He had some loose ones for ten cents each. So I'm going through them, pulling out interesting historical figures... Then I see it: Nolan Bushnell on a trading card. Pretty nifty, I think. (I make no apologies or guarantees concerning the accuracy of the information on the back. ) Unfortunately, I forgot to grab the Steve Wozniak. Hope it's still there next time. SteveW
And you didn't pick up Woz's card at the same time? For shame!
Rhindle The Red
And you didn't pick up Woz's card at the same time? For shame! I swear it was in my stack of cards! I sure meant to get it. But when I got home, no Woz!
bjk7382
Did they have a ralph baer card?
foxglove9
How unusual. I'd would rather have a "History of Atari2600 games" trading cards. Each card profiling a game Now what does a typewriter have to do with American History?
video game addict
How unusual. I'd would rather have a "History of Atari2600 games" trading cards. Each card profiling a game Now what does a typewriter have to do with American History? That's no typewriter, that's a vintage Atari 800! What's the letter B represent on the card number? Are there more than one of the Bushnell?
Rhindle The Red
Did they have a ralph baer card? Not as far as I could tell. Which is fine with me... Now what does a typewriter have to do with American History? I'll have to double check, but I believe the typewriter is the background for all the "Inventors and Inventions" cards, of which this is one. What's the letter B represent on the card number? Are there more than one of the Bushnell? Again, I'm not sure (I couldn't find a checklist) but I wouldn't think so. The "B" might be the code for that particular subset. joeybastard
That's pretty cool. Maybe one step closer to Nolan being universally regcognized vs. just Atari folks like us knowing who he is.
geosteve
I agree, Nolan has gone so unnoticed over the years
Godzilla
That's awesome! I'm always happy to see any mainstream recognition of video game figures. Though if Nolan deserves one, then Baer even more so. And Higginbotham the most.
