personally i dont think they exist all ive seen so far is ntsc heavy's that work on pal tv meaning they have been modded or something as much as i want it to be true becouse god knows i want one if there out there, i have found that a few people including my self get confused when it come to buying 2600 woody's especially off ebay for one the box u may get with the console could be from a diffrent year i now u tell by what pics it has on the front but what style box is what year i dont know

for example i have just brought this on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...me=STRK:MESE:IT

weather the box matches the console and the paper work is in order im not 100% and does anyone know for the year they made the cx-2600 sunnyvale and the time they made the sunnyvale light sixer (one i brought see link) and the promotional 4 switch do all 3 have the "heavy sixer" picture on the front of the box.

just to finish im thinking maby we should make some kind of list with pic's of each console with what box goes with what and maby include pic off all accessories and what orignal paperwork goes with what im quite sure that this is possible some people here have some amazing collections

I'm a little confused myself - and I've been a collector for some years now and own a US heavy sixer, tho' mine is a Sears (pretty!). The thing is, until a few weeks ago I had not seen a single PAL H6'er on eBay. I counted 4 listed as this right now on eBay UK, two of them complete in box.

Considering that theres only about 400 Atari 2600 items listed, that seems quite a lot of PAL H6'ers!!!

Is there anyone else, I'm thinking particularly in PAL land, who might be able to clarify?

Big thanks

If they sell for more, why not just take the guts out of a ntsc "light sixer" and put it in a heavy case. Boom, a working pal heavy sixer.

this is what i mean people are modding them and i think this is what is confusing people im not sure but i think the first "pal" sunnyvale was 1978 think i read something about they were only made for 6 month this is the one i brought should be on its way. anyway recently due to all the speculation there have been an increased number of apprant "pal" heavey's obviously pal heavys would be worth a lot more.

anyway what u lot think about this list i think it will make great addition to the site would be great for beginners and referance could be an extension to the harware guide im thinking just a throught thou

I presume that you've read the other thread about this that's been going recently:

http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=59545

Sunnyvale manufactured PAL "light" sixers are not particularly uncommon, although they're certainly more so than the HK models.

My "PAL heavy sixer" has the same kind of underside tag as that one (no FCC declaration etc). I don't think it's been modified. The person from whom I bought it had no idea which way up it should go, never mind how to fiddle about with the internals. It could have had 20 previous owners though.

The bottom line is that nobody knows for sure whether Atari made PAL heavy sixers (well, nobody who's telling, anyway) and, AFAIK, no-one's worked out how to tell. Yet.

I used to check eBay (UK) every day for 2 yerars straight and never saw a Pal Heavy Sixer. Until recently there just has never been any, only now they appear to be popping up. It seems like an easy way to make more money on eBay.

I personally don't think Atari went to the UK before the Heavy Sixer ceased production.

I'm still very suspicious myself. That's not to say I don't have an open mind, it just means I remain to be convinced.

Now if I could find someone who bought a PAL heavy sixer from the shops in 1977/8 then I will believe it, but there's no way I'm going to trust systems that have been through who-knows-how-many hands before - you'd be crazy to.

I just find it too strange that I've been watching eBay for years without a single PAL heavy 6er coming up, now they seem to be common....

Exactly, I think there may well be an outbreak of 'Air Raid' sweeping the nation....

I'm tempted to try and get one just to verify, or buy a very expensive 6 switch! :D

I think that they're appearing now because of the success of a certain ebay seller.

Have any of the PAL H6ers actually been sold be anyone else? I've seen H6ers on eBay but they're all NTSC except the one's Retrodogg has...

Actually, the seller I was thinking of was "Dustin".

I've seen a few PAL sixers listed as heavy, although they weren't.

IIRC there was another one not so long ago, bought by the same guy that's been selling a few NTSC H6ers lately.

Glad yopu where not talking about me

again thje link I brought my second heavy from, see this is how to find them on ebay. this seller had no idea it was a heavy but I do admit he did buy it from a Auction house in UK a few years before.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...me=STRK:MEWN:IT

as you can see you need to llok real hard, remember I live and breath ebay and I miss nothing, This is not the one I have on ebay at the moment that I got about 9 months ago.

I state on my auction I guarantee its PAL, if you find its not I refund but you need to prove to me as I am 100% sure its for real.

Remember we always got outdated stuff in UK so I would think we got heavies ever when USA got lighter console ( like PS1 + 2`s )

Hey dogg.

I watched that auction too, and the second-highest bidder also has an interest in heavy sixers ;)

There is no doubt that PAL H6ers exist. The only question is whether Atari made them that way. I believe that they did make some that way.

I know that everyone is cautious about this...me too.

I return to the question of the label on the underside. The one that you're selling right now, like mine, has a sticker saying "made in Sunnyvale" or whatever, but has no FCC declaration. I believe that this is significant.

I'm really not a 2600 guy. My main interest is in the A8 computers. However, I do look at many Atari-related auctions, and it's been my experience that US heavy sixers always have the FCC declaration on the tag.

This suggests that the H6ers with "Sunnyvale" but without FCC, might have been made for overseas markets.

Given that Atari reused so many of their components, I'm sure that this possibility can't just be disregarded.

It would be very nice to discover a previously unopened PAL heavy sixer, but, even so, how would you go about proving that you had opened it for the first time?

It is a nice thought that we could all club together and buy every unopened 6-switch woodgrain console on eBay UK, and have a big party to unseal them all, but it would probably take years to find enough of them to have a party worthy of a venue larger than a phone booth.

Even then, it's probably quite likely that there would still be some dissent.

I'm sad to hear that someone has interfered in your auction.

If it's someone from AA, then that sucks twice over.
