Mock
what have you guys used with yours so far? I just got one...have not tried it yet...does a genesis controller work?
Atari Dogs
The genesis controller is supposed to work. I bought controller at a used game store and mine does not work though. Cleaning the controller did not work. But anyway, the Atari joystick works great.
Albert
While the Sega Genesis controller will work on a stock 2600, it won't work with the Stelladaptor as it is wired differently than a regular Atari 2600 CX-40 joystick (and other Atari compatible joysticks with a single button). The Stelladaptor looks at the signals used by the controller you're using to determine if a joystick, paddle controller, or driving controller is plugged in. We did this to make the Stelladaptor simple to use without having to install additional drivers for your operating system. Controllers that don't electrically match the original Atari controllers may confuse the Stelladaptor and generally will not work properly. ..Al
Mock
ah...i see...so in theory if you wanted to use a 5200 Wico stick with it or a Genesis controller, you would just need the proper driver?
Albert
ah...i see...so in theory if you wanted to use a 5200 Wico stick with it or a Genesis controller, you would just need the proper driver? The Stelladaptor has internal firmware that would have to be completely rewritten in order to support external software drivers, and then we'd have to write drivers for each system (Windows, Linux, OS X) as well as an application to allow you to select and configure the different types of controllers. We decided that in order to keep the Stelladaptor relatively simple, inexpensive, and easy to use, to forego the driver route, and just make the Stelladaptor appear as a standard USB controller when plugged into your system. It's not likely we'll modify the Stelladaptor to add support for additional controllers, as we've had few people requesting the support. It's possible that a new, more sophisticated Stelladaptor could be developed down the road. ..Al

I purchased some NES controllers for the PC from them and they work great. http://www.sealiecomputing.com/retrozone/genesis.html
