Mister VCS
In an old Telematch mag (sister mag to electronic games) was an article about an "Video Game dentist. I think he was located in New York and his name was Dr. Zuckerman or so. The article was an direct translation from EG. You could play videogames while the doctor was working on your teeth. He used an Colecovision System (wrong forum I know, but I am sure he had 2600 games). On a picture you could see a man who is playing Cosmic Avanger with the standard Coleco controller, while the doctor is doing his work.. Any informations available? I the think today the doctor is retired. It was 1984...
intvgene
When I was a kid, there was a rumor that one of the dentists in town had a similar setup with a Colecovision. I'm not sure if it was just in the waiting room, or for when you were actually being worked on. I don't know if it was true or just an urban legend, but it sure made me want to go to that dentist. bjk7382
At my dentist they have tv's above each chair and they give you the remote to watch watever you want. They have pretty decent cable, but no videogames
Stingray
My nephew tells me they have PS2 & Xbox setups at his orthidontist. -S
Flojomojo
Reminds me of the Star Trek dentist in the movie "Trekkies." Lots of discussion about it on the web, but no site for the office. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=StarB...+Dental&spell=
Mindfield
Not retro, but I saw a news segment a good year ago or so where there was one dentist who employed a HMD hooked up to a PS2 so kids could play PS2 without even having to pay attention to what the dentist was doing. (At least, until the "oops" ... :-)

Nukey Shay
Same back in farmtown...you could play PS or watch a DVD. I'd imagine that many dentists offer this because it makes their job easier...and it can all be written off as a business expense anyway. ATARIeric
my dentist was weak! all you get is a pair of headphones listening to the doors or pinkflody all gassed up! playing games would be cool, ofcourse with gas
foxglove9
Wow, I'm from NY and I've never seen a dentist/endodontist/orthodontist that entertained you while they worked on your teeth. It would be cool if they still had a coleco hooked up..heh. Gotta check that phone book.
keilbaca
They would have to clamp my mouth open if they are to have that with the games, I tend to clinch my teeth when I play, especially fighter games and atari games... hehe kaboom... I don't know how many times my jaw hurts after playing a game that takes me up to 50k+ points.
MegaManFan
I got no entertainment out of $2K worth of dental surgery - just gabbing with the dentist whenever my face wasn't numb or full of frightening metal tools.
Cassidy Nolen
I work on arcades for a local operator friend, and there is an office in town that has a Millipede, Ms. Pac/Galaga and a Hang On. Not too shabby in the lobby. I think its a general practice (never cared to find out) but it could be kids only. Man, I never want to think about anything when I am in the chair. I'm with you, MMF. Red 5
In Danbury, Connecticut, where I grew up, the dentist had free arcade games in his waiting room. Tempest, Domino Man, Asteroids, and a couple others that I forget. He was a kids dentist. I was probably the only 8 year old who couldn't wait for his annual dentist apt. HermChase
My dentist also has the TV on when I go... My worst ever time to the dentist was when they forgot to give me the remote, so I was getting my teeth drilled while watching The View. It was like getting your teeth drilled twice. ------ Chase Hermsen
Mister VCS
I contacted Dr. Zuckerman, found him via internet, here is his answer: Yes...I am that Doctor..I stopped using the video games because the patients were moving too much while playing...It did start off as a good idea though...Thanks for the recognition...Dr. Z
