paul2900
How many official games game out for the lynx? i dont mean homebrew or any games made after 94 or any demo's or even different variations of a game but just commercial in the shops and at the time the lynx was not DEAD. I think from a list of games i have about 82 in total, that could include usa/europe and the rest of the world Is Cybervirus a clasic game or a remake? cheers...........cheeky ebayer/AKA paul29000
The_Laird
I have counted 77 that were actully released during the Lynx's comercial life. Remember some games were actully 'picked up' by people like Telegames ( Raiden, Fat Bobby etc.). Cybervirus by Songbird was orginally an un-released game by Beyond Games ( Battlewheels, Ultra Vortek, Mechtiles. . .) and uses the Battlewheels engine to produce a pretty slick first person shooter. davidcalgary29
How many official games game out for the lynx? i dont mean homebrew or any games made after 94 or any demo's or even different variations of a game but just commercial in the shops and at the time the lynx was not DEAD. This criterion of "commercial lifespan" is awfully difficult to discern. Atari did, after all, release "Super Asteroids / Missile Command" in 1995, after the Lynx had been pulled from most store shelves. I would say that the Lynx ceased being a commercial entity in 1993, but that didn't stop Atari from continuing releasing titles for the system for the next two years. In addition, at least one homebrew, "T-Tris", was released in 1992 as a commercial release. Does this mean that this is an "official game" because its release date overlapped that with the commercial viability of the system? And what about "P.I.T.S."? That one was never intended as a wide release, and yet it was sold in a professional package in the mid-'90s. And it's also a shame to leave out the later Songbird titles and efforts like "Alpine Games", which supersede most of what Atari released in the early '90s. In other words, IMO, if something is burned on a cart and sold to buyers, it's an "official" game (notwithstanding the pirate proto issue). People are, after all, still buying the things. paul2900
You make a good point DAVID and alpine games is a fine game which i own, but if you look at the catalogue of 94 it showes most of the OFFICIAL games and what was "MENT" for the lynx at the time when the lynx was being sold in the shops. All games since although made by telegames and songbird are surely then counted as homebrew!!! or mabey not but certanly not official titles of the lynx... just my opinion!!!!!!!! All of these were commercial releases, so I think that it's fair to include them on any list. I had a friendly dispute with chrislynx1999 a few months ago about the status of "Eye of the Beholder". There was a small run of carts for this game about a year ago, and they were sold and distributed to a small group of collectors (no, I wasn't one of them! ). I consider this to be a private pirate run, but Chris felt that this was a commercial release. I suppose that it is, like the game itself, in sort of a grey area. kuifje76
Yeah, nice list, but what I want to know is only the original, not homebrews, proto's, etc. Can we make that list..?
The_Laird
When i wrote my list i didn't have my own list to hand, it was at home and i was on my work computer. It should have had Raiden and Hyperdrome on the end to make 77 + the Lynx diagnostic which isn't a game. And before anyone says they were both released by Telegames, even though they were Atari games they were picked up later, but they were featured in many Atari catalogues, appereared in magazine adverts and also some shops, 2 of my local games shops ( Software Plus and Silica in Debanhams had them as well as Jag titles that were released after the so called demise of Atari) so technically were not Homebrews. kuifje76
I mean every game you could buy new, which was supported by atari, like ms. pacman, double dragon, etc. I think you know what I mean, so not fat bobby, or alpine games (not they aren't good or nice, but U know. GrizzLee
OK... Where do I get Lynx Reloaded, Pokermania, and P.I.T.S.? Never heard of these releases... well except maybe Lynx Reloaded... I forgot about that one. I guess I need to order it. Who has Eye of the Beholder for sale? I could use that one as well. BTW: I have been playing my Lynx alot lately. So much so, that my son has been asking about it. He has put his DS away and now wants his own Lynx. -Lee
sage
OK...Where do I get Lynx Reloaded, Pokermania, and P.I.T.S.? PITS was only available directly from the authors... the same guy who is selling Alpine Games/T-Tris/SIMIS/Lynx Reloaded. You will find his adress on the Alpine Games order page http://www.duranik.com/. I am not sure about Pokermania... I got it directly from MW. The_Laird
Telegames were an official 3rd party developer for the Lynx and Fat Bobby was released well before Atari went under so was an 'official' release.

You will find his adress on the Alpine Games order pagehttp://www.duranik.com/ I think he now only sells reproduction boards with P.I.T.S. on it. If you want the complete package it originally came in -suitcase with lynx console, cartridge and some instructions books- your only chance would be Ebay. Needless to say these are extremely rare (i have it only seen once) and quite pricey, if i remember correctly it sold for around €
