SumerNivek
Hi all. This is my first post here! Anyway, today I purchased a Lynx at a local mom and pop used game store here on the southwest side of Chicago (actually Oak Lawn). The guy was selling the Lynx, the battery pack, three games of my choice, and the large carrying case for $60. Good deal? The games I got with it were a factory sealed Rampart, Qix, and Roadblasters. My question is should I get the AC adaptor even though I already have the battery pack? How much do they usually go for nowadays? Lastly, what are some of the best games for the system? Thanks and sorry for the newb questions! But, I am glad that I joined the Lynx community now!
Shawn Jefferson
You got a pretty fair deal, but not a "great" deal. Don't worry, I paid $50 CAD for mine (bad streak on the screen) with California Games and Blue Lightning (carts only.) LOL!
Songbird
I'd definitely recommend some kind of AC adapter (even a universal one with at least 300ma output). The Lynx has lots of really great arcade ports... Joust, Klax, Robotron, Rampart, Battlezone 2000, Xybots, Xenophobe, and STUN Runner are all really great. Other fun games include Shanghai, BattleWheels, Crystal Mines II, and Checkered Flag. Plus, hobby developers have been busy releasing more games over the past decade. Check out my website for a bunch of new games. Have fun!
SumerNivek
Thanks for the advice. I got Rampart, as you can see. I actually couldn't believe that this guy was still selling brand new, factory sealed Lynx games...but maybe that isn't so rare at a regular used game store? I certainly will pick up STUN Runner and probably Klax. And I will have to keep my eye out for the AC adaptor.
Songbird
Roadblasters is a bit unusual to find new/sealed, the other two are more common. And yeah, not many retail brick & mortar stores even touch Lynx stuff these days. I think you got some really good games to start out with, Roadblasters is probably my favorite of the three.
