Clint Thompson
RF Intereference probably... someone that lives close to you probably bought something really nice that wants to eat your 2600 video away You'd be happy with a A/V mod and it's probably the best thing to do for the clearest picture... you'll be happy in the long run. sega saturn x
This A/V mod you speek of what is it and where could i obtain one?
keilbaca
This A/V mod you speek of what is it and where could i obtain one? Ben Heckendorn does a whole thing about a/v modding a particular system. I found the perfect resistor combination that will give you great color. Pin 5: 680Ohm. Pin 7: 220Ohm. Pin 8: 1kOhm. These along with connecting straight wires to pin 2, chroma and audio will give you the a/v mod you are looking for.
Rockin' Kat
The mod at atari2600.com is the one I have in my 2600. I think it works pretty nice.
keilbaca
The mod at atari2600.com is the one I have in my 2600. I think it works pretty nice. That's cheating lol. I figured mine out with time and patience (and a blown atari 5200 that I was stealing resistors from)

sega saturn x
Oh boy is there any chance i could go to like radio shack. And hold up the silver box that hooks in to the Tv and say "can i buy a new one of these?".
Stingray
Yep, they have them at Radio Shack. You'll get less interfernce if you just buy an RCA to Coax adapter and they're cheaper too. -S
sega saturn x
Then im going that route thanks.
candiru
Another low-tech thing (which you may have already done) is to make sure your wires aren't all tangled up and causing interference. I have a pretty good rat's nest going on behind my game t.v. and every so often I have to separate something out to get a better picture. +Nathan Strum
[shameless plug] Just thought I'd take this opportunity to pimp my 2600 mods comparison website. [/shameless plug]
Osbo
instead of a switch box, if you are not using the RF in the tv at all, use one of the straight connectors, much better image quality

I have a pretty good rat's nest going on behind my game t.v. and every so often I have to separate something out to get a better picture. This is a very good suggestion. Also, if you have a 2600 with an RCA port/jack on the back of the 2600 itself, make sure this connection is tight too. It can work loose sometimes. Other units have this connection on the inside, but it is less likely to pull loose. You could check it there too though.
