txfds
It's not easy to pick one game because there all similar for sounds, i'd say maybe ms pac-man or phoenix.
Ferris
Pac-Man no way. My vote goes to Quadrun for Voice Synthesis!
D.Yancey
Best music: Double Dragon by far! Honorable mention: Pressure Cooker My favorite sound: the white noise effect on Robot Tank when you lose a life. I love to hate that sound!! adams_ale
The opening music of Ghost Manor. That is the shiznit!
The_Laird
Your right about Double Dragon that has utterly superb music for the VCS. Also worth a mention for good music:- Bobby Goes Home Commando California Games Kung Fu Master Smurf Double Dunk Pitfall 2 Gyruss Strawberry Shortcake Best sound effects for me would have to go to Defender 2, and second place to Realsports Boxing. vb_master
I like Thurst+ Platnium's music, and I also like the Synthcart's music.
Shawn
Smurf has got some great tunes but hands down (even though I hate the game) the best 2600 soundtrack goes to Pitfall II.
moycon
The most inpressive sounding game back in the day for me was Mountain King after you obtained the flame and started heading back up the mountain.
jammajup
I always liked the sound of the ships in Atlantis(imagic) as they `beam a city` but the Flute tune in raiders lives long in my mind even after all these years. What do you guys recon to flute? Catchy or Annoying?
moycon
I like how Indy's footsteps sync up to the flute.
lhfreak
The fanfare when you win Adventure.........Also the warp sound when you jump to different sectors in Phaser Partol...
+Random Terrain
There are plenty of games with cool sounds. It seemed that every major company had at least one game with sounds that tickled your brain. More than a few Imagic games had great sounds, but best music goes to Pitfall II, although I can't stand that game. The ship landing and taking off in E.T. still sounds cool (so does the candy eating sound at the end of the game).

+SpiceWare
The sound when the demons materialize in Demon Attack.
vdub_bobby
I like Thurst+ Platnium's music, and I also like the Synthcart's music. Thrust+ Plat has amazing title-screen music; I'd almost buy it just for that. The lack of music during game-play knocks it down a notch, IMO, so I'll call it even between Pitfall II and T+Platinum. ZylonBane
The "WOOF!" and "MEOW!" sounds in Mousetrap. They almost sound digitized.

Big Player
The sounds to Zoo Keeper are just amazing. Just like the arcade game. Now if someone could only find the rest of the code.
keilbaca
The sounds to Zoo Keeper are just amazing. Just like the arcade game. Now if someone could only find the rest of the code. Someone should do a remake of it using those sounds... That and remake Sega Turbo for the 2600...
